The muscles hip are responsible for stabilizing the hip joint and keeping the pelvis level when you walk. The gluteus medius and gluteus minimus are the main abductors of the hip. The other main abductor is the tensor fascia lata. Pain in this muscle group can cause lateral hip pain.

Adductor magnus

The adductor magnus muscles are a complex group of muscles on the thigh. They perform several roles in the body, including hip extensor, adductor, and pelvic stabilizer. Another important nerve that travels through the gluteus maximus is the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back to the leg. The pudendal nerve, which serves the perineum, is also located under the gluteus maximus.

The Gluteus maximus is the largest of the gluteal muscles and acts as a hip flexor. It originates from the posterior dorsal ilium and the superior iliac crest. It is also attached to the femur and the coccyx. The Gluteus medius, which is located between the gluteus maximus, also has a similar function.
